TickEncounter Resource Center

About TickEncounter.org

TickEncounter.org is part of URI's Center For Vector-Borne Disease, a non-profit organization devoted to preventing insect- and arthropod-transmitted infections. In order to eliminate tick-borne disease in Rhode Island and beyond, the web site and related media seek to educate people about the dangers of ticks and how to prevent infections.

Dr. Thomas Mather of the Center For Vector-Borne Disease approached the 3D Group in 2005 to form a partnership that would leverage his group's tick expertise with the new media expertise of the 3D Group in order to create TickEncounter.org. Since that time, the site has become a leading resource for tick-bite protection and prevention information. TickEncounter.org has spread to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter and has been involved in the Animal Planet series "Monster's Inside Me".
